Install new Ubuntu Font family on Windows
The new Ubuntu font family is really cool and I thought why not install it on Windows and use it in Photoshop, MS Word and Chrome. The new Ubuntu font family is known as Libre font released and licensed under the Ubuntu Font Licence. Ubuntu font was released for the new Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat".
Ubuntu font truely deserves five out of five. I have made a small photoshop image using the new Ubuntu font family. It looks neat and I think I'm going to use this new font extensively.
How to install Ubuntu font family on Windows:
- First download this ~700kB zip file(right click and save), it contains the Ubuntu font family files.
- In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, Go to your Control panel >>font.
- Extract the content of zip file to your desktop.
- Copy the four Ubuntu True type font files, .ttf (ubuntu-B,ubuntu-I,ubuntu-BI,ubuntu-R) and paste them to control panel>>font folder. Or you can just drag and drop these files to the font folder.
That's it.
Open a new MS Word document, change your font (as shown in the pic) and enjoy.
I have already changed my default Windows font to Ubuntu font family and my desktop looks amazing.
I have even downloaded a Chrome extension which will show all webpages in the Ubuntu font.
